341 Hearings Return to The Old Century Station

Historically, the upper floors of the Century Station building at 300 Fayetteville St. was bankruptcy land in Raleigh. The old second-empire building housed the court rooms, judge’s chambers, 341 hearings, the clerk of the bankruptcy court, and the Bankruptcy Administrator. It didn’t matter that most people only knew the building as the old post office next to the Wake County court house: to bankruptcy attorneys, 300 Fayetteville Street was the primary point of contact for their practice outside the office.
Then the Bankruptcy Administrator moved down the block and the 341 Hearing room followed with them. When remote, electronic filing became the norm and there was no longer a need to physically stamp pleadings at the clerk’s office, that primary point of contact for the bankruptcy bar was lost.
Last week, though, the 341 Hearings were moved back to the Century Station building, on the first floor, down a hall to the left of the post office counter. While those in the bankruptcy field are pleased by the sense of cohesion that the move brings, it will benefit clients, as well. No more will there be two locations for which one must manage directions and parking. No more will there be mad dashes down Fayetteville Street because someone has gone to the wrong building. Now there’s just one place for all your bankruptcy needs. One place besides our office of course.
